If you’ve lifted, leveled, or plan to push your truck harder off-road, upgrading to aftermarket upper control arms (UCAs) is one of the most important suspension improvements you can make. Factory UCAs are designed for stock ride height and mild driving not the added angles, travel, and stress that come with performance suspension setups. Aftermarket UCAs fix the geometry issues created by lifts, improve handling, and help your truck perform the way it should.

When you lift or level your truck, the stock upper control arms often become the weak point of your suspension. Here’s why:
Limited Ball Joint Range: Factory ball joints max out quickly once the suspension angle changes.
Poor Alignment Capability: Getting proper caster and camber becomes difficult after a lift.
Reduced Suspension Travel: Stock UCAs restrict droop, hurting off-road performance.
Weak Construction: OEM arms are built for comfort and cost, not high-load performance.
This makes your truck harder to align, harder to control, and more prone to premature wear.
Aftermarket UCAs are designed to restore proper caster and camber angles when running 2–4” of lift. This brings back straight-line stability and steering feel something most lifted trucks lose.
Many UCAs use oversized ball joints or uniballs with more articulation and strength. This reduces binding, improves wheel travel, and holds up to aggressive driving.
More droop travel means better performance off-road, improved tire contact, and smoother ride quality over rough terrain.
Upgraded control arms make it easier for shops to dial in a proper alignment, which protects your tires, your suspension components, and your steering system.
Aftermarket arms are typically made from heavy-duty boxed steel or billet aluminum far stronger than the thin stamped steel found in most factory arms.

You’ll benefit from aftermarket UCAs if you:
Installed a leveling kit or lift
Run larger tires
Drive off-road or on rough terrain
Want sharper steering and improved stability
Tow or haul frequently
Even a basic 2” leveling kit can push factory UCAs past their limits, making this upgrade worthwhile for most truck owners.
Aftermarket upper control arms aren’t just an off-road upgrade they’re a crucial part of making your lifted or leveled truck drive the way it should. Better angles, stronger components, improved alignment, and greater suspension travel all add up to a safer, smoother, more capable setup and you can take your truck to the next level HERE:
